Notes by Lisa Peschel:
Several Czech-Jewish survivors recalled seeing Comedy about a Trap and described the performance in their testimony, but I did not manage to locate a copy of the script until 2009 when Czech theatre historian Eva Šormová put me in touch with Miloš Dvořák, co-founder of the Theatrical Studio (Činoherní studio) in the provincial city of Ústí nad Labem. In 1975 the theatre staged an adaptation of Comedy about a Trap, based on a script preserved by survivor Eva Korálková-Kavanová, who played Columbina in the Terezín production. Dvořák obtained a copy from actor Jiří Schmiedt, who played the role of Rarach in the 1975 production. Although five pages were missing from the 24-page script, including the first page, the missing pages were not consecutive and therefore the plot was relatively easy to reconstruct.
